Hinduism

I’m not going to discuss about a religion here, and I will not in my blog, so let me discuss about Hinduism, don’t sigh and widen your eyes, I’m not contradicting myself. Let me share with you what I learned/explored. I born in a family which believes/follows Hinduism, but for some reason I believed that I’m not a Hindu, to understand this strange feeling I thought I need to explore more on the concept of Hinduism.

First I want to understand whom my (Hindu) primary deity is, I found none, yes I found none, you might say Lord Vishnu, but is the deity for Vainavum, and so Shiva for Savisim, Goddess MahaSakthi for Saktham, Lord Ganapathi for Ganapathiam, Lord Skandaswamy for Kaumaram/Skandam, I also found that Agni (Abimani) is also a supreme god for group of people and they called them selves as “Abimanis” as I was not able to fetch more information on this, I leave this for readers discretion, based on the above facts if my God supreme is Lord Shiva then I should be calling myself as Saiva, if my god supreme is Lord Vishnu, then I’m Vainava, and so on for other supreme deities respectively. But I’m calling myself has Hindu, where my god supreme belongs to other religion. I asked one of my friends who is doing his vedic studies, and visited several vedic colleges across the country, he starred at me initially, when I explained him the above concept he started believing that there is a sense in my question. He did some exploration for me and the results are surprising, as he was not able to find the definition for Hinduism, which was interesting, Hindus holy books are Vedas, and he is vedic student, and still no clue from him what Hinduism means? It seems to be an unsolved mystery in my thoughts until I met my friend on this Pongal holiday who is a Jain, sarcastically I asked what you have to do with Pongal festival, which his Mother heard and said, we too are Hindus but at the same time followers of Mahavira, hence we are called Jains, Hindus and the followers of Buddha are Buddhists, but still they are Hindus.

After reading Kannadasan’s “Arthamulla Hindu Matham” I’m surprised again, he too feels rather believes that Hinduism is not a religion but a name given to it, as not knowing what name should be given, just like an Anti-Matter, no one knows what it is? How it is? Where it is? But it exists at fulleth knowledge scientists around the globe are exploring this Anti-matter, hence the Big Bang theory recreation and so on, Just like this when Mugal’s and Europeans invaded India, they were not sure what to call this religious belief, as they have experienced only fear with god and not love, and astonished to see multiple religion (Vainavum, Saivam and so) which are related to each other. Hence choose the name of the river (Indus) which they are aware of to identify the people collectively.

Based on the above facts, it becomes very clear that there is nothing called as Hindu dharma, because the very word Hindu itself is a virtual thing and has no meaning as such. I get no sense when Hindu activists go crazy on Valentines Day/ Friendship day, ragging and mobbing the couples claiming they have insulted Hindu dharma, I pity them that they themselves don’t know what Hindu Dharma, let me ask them one question, Lord Krishna, who was in relationship with Goddess Radha but married to Satyabama, is this an affair (both pre-marital or extra marital)? But they call Lord Krishna’s and Radha’s love as eternal and not as an affair, if they can have an eternal love without marriage why cant a man and woman, why cant they expose their love and affection in public, I’m, not talking about the lust here, I’m talking about the divine love which Krishna and Radha experienced, so why these so called Hindu Dharma protectors, ban all Krishna idols and his ideologies before attacking young couples in parks and beaches, as they all are following Lord Krishna’s ideology who loved Radha in the banks of Yamuna and in Brindavan.

If celebrating lovers day on Valentines day is what makes them to go crazy, that makes little sense to me, as we have love of god (Lord Krishna) here whose birthday can be celebrated as lovers day, but if celebrating lovers day is what they feel bad, then there is something wrong in there institutional intentions.

If exposing love and affection in public is sin, then what they as Hindu Dharma itself is a sin, as it says Love is god and so god should not be exposed in public, there were many erotic sculptures craved in many temples, which are exposed to public that includes children too, they need to be destroyed first as they are more erotic then the people in public. Sarcastic thing is the sculpture inside the temple is a divine thing, but outside the temple it becomes erotic and porn, is it the temple that makes the difference or the people’s mindset.

Without any question it is people’s mindset, as we tend to see god only in temple, and inside the temple we say god is omnipotent, omnipresent and all, once we are out side the temple, we will forget that god is omnipresent and tend to see him only inside the temple so we close our divine eyes and open the lustful one, hence when we see a couple sharing there love, we don’t see their affection (as we closed our divine eyes) but we see only lust. Rather seeing Lord Krishna and Radha in them we tend to see our self, we don’t don’t believe in “Aham Brahmasmi”. If at all we do, we would have seen the Brahmam in them and not the lust.

To add fuel to the fire, now even cops are teaching morals to public, this is the joke of the century, there are disgusting movies/serials produced and telecasted by popular TV channels that need to be moralized, if cops have guts they should have warned or stopped then and not those innocent love birds who want to feel the warmth of each other. I don’t understand where in the city they go to love, is this an indirect way of telling LOVE is banned in Chennai (may be in India due to Hindu activists), they are lot more things that cops got to do rather teaching morals to lovers, it doesn’t mean that they can cross the limits, now the question is what is the limit? Well it is easy to explain but tough to describe. Well, Love and Lust share a thin line as border, I feel as long as your clothes are on you are on the safe zone. Just like any nature call LOVE is another type of nature call for LUST, so there is no point in avoiding LUST and it makes no sense in hiding LOVE. As you express you want to loo however you won’t pee in public, you can express LOVE but not LUST in public.

Bhopal Gas – An antagonism

First I wonder why Union Carbide has started in India, and why not in US, do they know about the potential threat already, and was not allowed to start there, any which ways, since it got installed and started here, do Indian government know at that point for the safety measures that need to be ensured, if so what happened to those safety measures, if they (Indian government) are not sure of safety measures, then its clear case of negligence and irresponsibility, has they failed to do the case study, which even happens in today’s environment, like Delhi Metro Rail project, Sethu Samudaram Project, River connection project ( this is a big joke, one of the Chief Party leader of the ruling government and descendent from Nehru’s family, pooh-poohed calling it has waste of time, energy and money) and so many, you don’t have to be a politician to know about things like this, as long as you prove to be true citizen, you know that list is endless.

We all know that there is no disaster management as such by state or central government, if at all there is one, we wouldn’t have lost 20000 lives, do we have after such incident ( sorry government has requested us to call this as accident, but anyone with conscience know it is not an accident, but an incident not planned, for an example you know that driving at 80KMPH on busy roads will lead to accident, but you still drive at the same speed, then any accident at that point, is not an accident anymore, rather it should be termed as incident), I doubt!

Verdict on this case is another big joke that too after a decade, and the comments on eluded Warrnen Anderson, CEO of Union Carbide, from the senior party spokesman/leader from the ruling government is not only a joke, but outrageous and harassing the feeling of the victims and people. His statement was if Warren was not eluded, he would have got killed by angry mob, so it seems they have helped him to elude, to save a foreigner who killed 20000 Indians, not sure how much fees they would have got for this, example he quoted his Kazab, who killed 100 of Indians, where government has spent huge sum for legal proceedings. What humanitarianism? I have no words to explain this, by seeing this humanitarianism of the ruling government who been ruling since then, by fooling people with there mesmerising words and false promises.

One thing which pricks me is, why there humanitarianism is showered only to foreigners and not to Indians, if Warren Anderson and Kasab need to be analyzed by law before passing on the verdict, who killed hundreds and thousands of Indians, with no mercy, an Indian who’s intention was to uproot the slavery by killing few foreigners, for the welfare of Indians, was not brought under the law, but was stamped as terrorist, it is none another than Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who is a great freedom fighter and patriot, who is still a terrorist as per Indian constitution and should be handed over to British government if captured alive, the same government who said they wont give back the valuables that they have stolen from us. It seems diplomatic moves are only to foreigners and not to Indians.

PeaceMan Travels – A Fraud concern

I got married on June 4, 2010 and for my honey moon trip I booked tour with PeaceMan Travels, in the month on January 2010, I came to know about this travel through one my friend in North India, package costs are very affordable, which I recommended to my couple of friends as well, one which was on HoneyMoon trip, where he was given a very cheap hotel and very uncomfortable, which caused him mental agony, I called Manish Bhandri, who is a tour coordinator, after a big squabble a decent hotel was arranged for him, since I recommended PeaceMan travels to him, I felt very bad and apologized for the inconvenience.

The other person had even more mental trauma, his tickets were not confirmed till the eve of journey, thank god finally Manish confirmed the tickets, but driver was a drunkard, my friend was scared as he got two kids, and driver is drunkard on hair pin bends. I don’t want to imagine that, praise lord, all were safe.

My case was worst then them, Manish didn’t confirm the tickets till the eve of my journey, we were not able to reach him, his phones were switched off and not reachable for hours, we emailed him too, but no response, in about 10 hours to go for our travel, we received an email from him, saying he is not able extend his service, provide new travel dates, I'm pissed off with this.

First thing this is my honey moon trip, after many struggles we both got approvals for our trip, either we cancel now or not, we are not going to get approvals again in the near future, moreover we had paid 90% of the amount 6 months ago, and still he hasn’t made arrangements for us, this is frustrating, and worst thing is he is not answering our call or returning.

Manish has two cell phones (09582257811, 09717510727), he keeps one on, and call forwards to the other one which will kept off, so you always think his phone is switch off but actually not, if you text he can read it, after rigorous calls and messages, he finally texted me that he will refund my money, but hesitates to call me or answer my call. I called his Delhi office, it’s not his office, and person who answered the call said Manish is not leaving there and he is fraud, and he has cheated him as well.

I’m writing this for others who fall prey to his low cost package like me, I’m now approaching cyber police to get my money back, rather enjoying my marriage days now I’m going behind legal things which is pain in neck. Please be aware of PEACEMAN TRAVELS, they are not only frauds but a bunch of betrayers.

Nijam – an exaggeration

I happened to watch couple of Nijam (A crime report broadcasted in SUN tv) shows, and felt is it utterly against the name, it is a show of paper tiger, based on some real facts, it may be contradictory, some one might feel I’m trying to be sarcastic, but that’s not the fact.

What a they show is real, however what they say is little more exaggerated, thrusting their personal opinions to viewers, as mentioned in my pervious blogs, they not only decide what we see, now they also decide how and what we think. Is it not fatal, for me it seems to be, let me give you an example how fatal it is?

On Wednesday (April 7, 2010), the show (Nijam) was reporting about a leopard in Vaalparai area, the show presenter interviewed few localities who are affected by this leopard, interviewed the parents whose kids were killed by this leopard, interviewed few victims who portrayed the leopard as a demon from hell. You probably think that I’m speaking nuisance or pooh-poohing feelings of parents who lost their children to leopard or victims who lost their limbs, but sincerely I’m not, I’m sorry for the affected. But at the same time I’m very sorry for the leopard, it just did what it is meant for?

It is not, there fault to inhabit in leopard’s area; a human can live in 600 sq ft area, and can buy food for printed paper and store them for years, but its not the case for a leopard, for a leopard to survive it requires at least 100 SQ Kilometers, its not because it requires a lavishly big living room, with Queen size bedroom and all. It needs that area for its food to survive so that it can hunt, when human inhabits, which reduces the survivability of its food, and so human becomes its food. Is it not quite natural? It is.

You questioned its survivability by reducing its food, so it is questioning your survivability, again not to challenge you but for its survivability, but Nijam totally proscribed this truth, and prescribed the capture of the animal, thank god, it didn’t tell to kill it, but I don’t understand what they mean by capturing the animal, do they expect to raise it in captivity or to relocate, if at all they want to relocate it, where? Even in reserve forests humans live, they built their resorts and farm houses to attract tourists, remember the resorts built in the elephant corridor of the mudumaali sanctuary, not all but few encroachments has been removed.

Any which ways, relocation may not guarantee the survivability of the leopard, as it has to study the geography of the land and survey the availability of the food and all, rather if forest officials and government would have taken steps to avoid encroachment, this situation would have avoided, more over if these victims, would have thought with their common sense, that they are encroaching they wouldn’t have lost their kids and limbs.

My point is NIJAM should have interviewed few environmentalist and nature lovers to reveal the reality rather going through their exaggerated presentation, and people are already killing wild animals, once commonly seen sparrows are not seen anymore.

By projecting snakes as venomous creatures, tigers and lions as man-eaters, rather show snakes as farmer’s friend, who eat rodents, tigers and lions as forest friends who checks on herbivorous birth rate.

Not only here, NIJAM always dominates and thrusts its views on the viewers, rather allowing the viewers to think and come out with their own views, unlike other shows (Nadathathu Enna in Vijay tv and all) hope things change.

Nithyananda – Scapegoat

Since I’m an Agnostic (but people think it is theist, since they don’t understand the meaning of Agnostic) , few of my friends (Atheist) asked me to write a blog about Nithyananda, the prime topic in media (esp SUN Network) , actually there intention is to tease me as Nithyananda is/was a swamiji, but I know they are my friends very best friends, our ideology has never ever disturbed our relationship, and I also take this opportunity to thank them, as it helped me to explore and also to get rid of taboo that every one has. Let me share with you few of my findings and my thoughts, and I leave rest to you all.

First thing which I want to discuss is about the issue of adultery/affairs that was imposed on Nityananda, and I think, that is his personal matter, we have no rights to interfere in that, lets not bring the religious taboo here, anyways, I’ll come to that part little later, he didn’t molested, he didn’t raped, (sarcastically one who raped is about to become Chief Minister soon) yes he had sex, that too with the concern of the opposite sex, then how it is unethical, yep coming to the religious purists, they might call this sexual act as unethical, I would like to ask one question to those purists, is Sex denied in Hindu dharma? Or Is Sex denied for sages? If so, then sex between Vishwamitra and Menaka is also adultery, and we know Indira, King of Deva’s committed adultery with Ahalya ( as per the story she didn’t, but I personally believe she did too, she is wife of a Gautama Maharishi, and she definitely should have the powers to know the fake, and that’s the reason there is a curse, Maharishi’s never curse’s an innocent), a Bharama Rishi like Viswamitra fallen to the prey of Sex, King of all Lords Indira fallen to the prey of Sex, is Nityananda more divine then them, if religion and custom accepted them why not Nityananda, I’m not justifying his act, if that is legally punishable punish him, but religiously he has not done any thing unethical, moreover he has reformed many souls, it is true that he is not a divine character, but his words are soothing, he can attract only weak souls unfortunately there percentage is much higher and so his popularity.

There is demand for spirituality; there remains a huge deficit for it, so people tend to fall prey to such black market spirituality and leaders, goodos to Dravida movements who created this vaccum and deficit so people like Nityananda can be sold at higher price in open market.

Purists still argue that he had sex, while wearing saffron dress and uthraksha, which is against the religious codes, is that so? Same story Vishwamitra is a bramharishi he wears only saffron dress and posses uthraksha round the clock, and he still had sex with Menaka, and so our country name Bharath. Ahalya wife of Maharishi only wears saffron clothes and had sex with Indira and at unacceptable time as per Vedas, even Lord Shiva who had sex with Mother Parvithi which led to Kamasutra, was wearing saffron colored dress and uthraksha. As per mythology, Krishna and Radha were the models for Ajantha and Ellora caves sculptures, and such obscene and phonographic pictures (if not looked with divine eyes) are found in all temples across globe.

If Nityananda is a sinner, then Lord Shiva, Krishna and Viswamitra are also sinners. aren’t they? Then we have to burn the effigy of Lord Shiva and Krishna too. Spiritual leaders like Osho, Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharishi were preached the same. More over Nityanada was not an ascetic, he is a business man, his business was scripture, and capital is his words, fools believed him as god and poured wealth on his feet. It is punishable on social grounds just like chit funds, may be legally too, but definitely not on religious grounds.

Why media is so attractive on this, especially SUN network, as Nakeeran, Dinamalar and all are worried only about the Actress, and you all know why but not about Nityananda, it seems. But why Sun Network is cornering Nityananda, we are sure that is not for social or human welfare, if so Spectrum case worth of many thousand crores, who highlighted the same submerged it in no time, as I discussed in my previous topic (Telegana – A Rampage), people tend to forgot previous issue, when next arise, we don’t only forget we also fail to foresee/see-through things, as said in thirukural, anything we hear/see need to be analyzed to grasp the truth. Thanks to my friends who helped me to analyze these things, it seems (genuiness is not verified) Network was trying to buy some land near Bengaluru, unfortunately the land that Network has finalized was an Ashram of Nityananda, and Nityananda was not ready to sell that property to Network, and there aroused a friction, and one fine day Network received a CD with obscene movie of Nityananda, miracle, is it not?

Pen is (was) mightier than sword, this revolutionized to media, and Network has proved that it can make dust out of dawn (Spectrum case) and dawn out of dust (Nityananda), gone are those days where people decide what they want to see in television, now we are forced to see what they decide to show, now they moved to movies as well, there sick movies always stand first in their ratings. Remember the movie “Tomorrow Never Dies”, like the media “Tomorrow”, we have Network now, they can make the terrorists as preachers and preachers as terrorists.

Telagana – A Rampage

A tale reminisces me, there was a king who drew a line and asked his ministers to make that line shorter without erasing any part of the line, which puzzled the ministers, and finally one smart kid drew another line bigger than the one already there drew by the king. Its exactly what is happening with the Telagana issue, after the accident (I would rather call this as murder/assassination) of YSR Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, which was leading to rampage in the state and rejecting the candidature Jagan Mohan son of YSR, as the next chief minister of AP by the state congress, pothered central congress committee. They tried to elude the situation but didn’t last longer, finally one smart congress watch dog came up with an idea to create a bigger issue than these, and that is TELAGANA. I bet no one in AP including the close friends and relatives of YSR, who may or may not be in Congress, want to probe his death case now, but to get out of Telagana issue.

You might tend to ask me why they created bigger issue like Telagana rather solving the death case of YSR and accepting Jagan Mohan, Telagana might look bigger for community, definitely not for the party, it is same divide and rule policy of British which congress is still following, it is the far sight of Nehru family which divided states based on the languages so that there is always a tension and uneasiness between the states, this gives the more leverage to the central to intervene state affairs and disputes. Tamilians know about the Cauvery dispute for decades, and it will never be solved as long as it is there vote bank, since that is an appetizer for every election.

Gandhi divided countries based on Religion, Nehru divided country based on languages, and congress now dividing the states based on divisions, tomorrow it will be further divided based on the caste, creed and so on. I know the question in your mind how it benefits the congress, small states means more and more small political parties and this creates more and more friction between the state policies, and to reach the central the states has to come under one umbrella which is almost a mission impossible now. So it a biscuit thrown by the congress to feed the small political parties to gain powers in their respective state, and at, no time these small political parties can join together to form a central government, remember there are only two big national parties, Congress and BJP. BJP is getting out of show, because of non-secularism (neither congress a secular party) which BJP accepted (I mean indirectly) and congress didn’t. So it is always the congress which will own the Prime Minister seat, I know BJP is also encouraging this Telagana issue, but they will not get the lion share, which I believe BJP knows too.

Remember the congress which rejected Jagan Mohan’s candidature for CM based on age factor, is promoting Rahul son of Rajiv EX-PM, for PM candidature, and they don’t want the people of AP to question this so they have a given another question to raise that is Telagana, they just want to shut the AP’s mouth and not other states, since no state is going to raise their voice for AP, because of the friction and uneasiness with other states, which exactly congress is aiming at, and it is close to the accomplishment of that mission.

Its not the case only in AP, say in TamilNadu, when ever there is a Cauvery issue raised in public, you see government raising the Bus ticket fares or funding farmers to protest for crop price hike (only for this every party have there own unions), so the Cauvery issue is erased off from the people’s mind. Indians have amnesia, which these politicians take advantage off. If there is any national issue like peace talks with Pakistan, after 26/11 incident India taking a U-turn from its stand, when we (Indians) were agitated a little, government spread rumors of hiking fuel prices, now we are worried about the fuel price hike and not about the peace talks with Pakistan.

As long as we are suffering with this disorder (amnesia), we are the slaves for politicians, and if a politician is not taking advantage of this people’s disorder, he will be forgotten soon, like Lal Bhadhur shastri, Kamaraj – EX CM of TN and so on.

Aairathil Oruvan – My View

It seems Selvaragavan was edgy about the screenplay of the movie, however he seems to be confident about the story, with no second thought, it is definetely a dare move in Indian cinema, atleat in tamil movies, a fantasy movie, with an absurd historical base.

First thing which gnaws me is the need of Karthick in lead role, I feel that any supportive actor can do that role without any injustice to that character, I dont mean that Karthick has done some injustice to that, I mean it is clerk job and a manager is not required. Director seems to be in hurry right from the beginning, movie unveils with “theru Koothu” , a traditional street play, which tells about the last king of Chola dynasty who evaded his son to a distant unexplored land to safe gaurd him from Pandia’s who attacked Tanjavur, the capital of chola dynasty. Its not a real history as per the disclaimer of the movie, it seems Directorthought that this historical background might give more weightage to his fantasy, and it did, and yeilded criticism from purists. I personally believe that these criticism are artifical, may be for the popularity of the movie, and inculcate the urge of watching this movie, and this worked.

If director would have spent little more time in screenplay, the movie would have been a block bluster, every role in this movie is well defined and every one has done there part exceptionally, except the director’s part and screenplay, right from the beginning from theru koothu, to the chola period, it looked like a abrupt transition, it required lots to analysis to correlate, this transition, something like this, I’m watching at 20th century part all of sudden I was moved 1000 yrs back, yes the theru koothu is about this 1000 yrs story, that need to be filed and smoothened in the story, not sudden u-turn.

All traps that chola’s created quickly whisked me to Mackenna's gold, Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and a Japnese movie for the last trap of sound, I’m not saying its wrong that it is copied, but Director would have taken steps to present this in an acceptable manner. Like most of the Hollywood and Bollywood movies, this movie has got some logical errors too, but obvious one should be avoided, like the Quick sand Trap, when Anita Pandian (Reema Sen), first stepped on the quick sand, it opened and stayed opened for few mins, where as other quick sand traps closed immediately, so that they can step on and check if that is a quick sand and step out immediately.

Tamil Purists concern about showing Chola as a tribal/cannibal, I’m on Director side on this, he might be Chola and cultured/civilized king in Tanjavur not in Minggu Vah island, he is a tribal here, he dont have chefs to cook food for him with species and all as in Tanjavur, he is a tribal here, and his continues starvation and expellsion from the outer world would have forced him to cannibalism, this is obvious, if you would have watch Man Vs Wild, or Survivorman in Discouvey channel, you will get what I mean, again as other things overlooked by the Director, this too was stepped over. If Director would have taken little more time to look into these details, this movie would have become a history in Tamil cinema, I accept that will increase the movie time, let it be, people who are used to watch 3 hrs movie, will watch 4/5 Hr movie as well, just like Lord of Rings, which was 4.3 Hrs movie, and a box office hit.

Now probably you would know, what I mean by abrupt transistion 

I hope with all these inputs and corrections Director is going to come back with Part 2, Just like James Camaroon, who corrected all his mistakes in Terminator – I, and gave Terminator – II which was a block bluster, I believe Aairathil Orvan – II will emerge successfully, undoubtfully Aairathil Orvan – I is a dawn and Aairathil Orvan – II probably be the bright day.

Civic Sense

Civic Sense

It’s not a bad word to elude, it is something that every one of us must know and practice, it is the social responsibility that every one should posses for the welfare of society, as per our constitution we all have rights to Speak, to write but it doesn’t mean we have rights to speak aloud/rubbish in public places, to scribble rubbish in public properties, remember the same constitution says that “Your liberty stops where others start”.

What does it mean? You have all the rights to swing your hands as far as possible while walking, constitution gives you that rights, however constitution restricts the same if your hand intrudes the other person’s, in short your rights should not cause an inconvenience to the other person, whether it is a law or not, it the basic common sense that intruding in other persons area physically or mentally by your acts or thoughts is unethical. I hope no one with sense will disagree this. However we all witnessing such non-civic sense activities daily in our day to day life, like playing music/commentary aloud in public buses, spitting on the public places, throwing garbage in the public places, when I say public places that includes staircase, public transports, street, common area in your flats/offices. Most of us know that this is wrong, and shouldn’t be doing however we still do it. Few of you might ask me what is wrong in playing music aloud in buses/trains. After all it is entertaining that too free of cost, let me ask, them a question.

Assume that one of your close friend or relative is hospitalized and with critical condition, with all worries in the world you are heading to the hospital, will you be interested in hearing a music/cricket commentary, let it be India vs Pakistan finals or A.R Rehman’s or R.D Burman’s or llayaraja music, definitely wont, rite? To make this situation little worse if you are enquiring persons condition over the phone and your co-passenger is playing music aloud, will you be entertained or frustrated? It’s the same case for your co-passenger you don’t know what mood he is in? It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy music/commentary while travelling, you can do it very well, that’s the reason why headphones were invented, so that you can enjoy the music without disturbing others, worst than this using profanity in buses/trains especially when kids are your co-passengers.

Spitting on the streets is another big inconvenience and unhygienic as well, not everyone on the streets where footwear thou, if you are the one who fast for sabrimala you would have experienced that inconvenience, you could imagine now. Probably this is the reason why the footwear’s are not allowed in few air-conditioner showrooms or par lour’s, as they know for sure that you would have stepped on few spit tings on the street, worst than this is using public places as rest rooms, think how embarrassing it will be for the females passing by and vice versa?

Keeping loud cell phone ringtones, avoiding queues, over crowding buses, parking vehicles blocking/scratching others, even occupying any common space for more time when others are waiting for the same are few practices which we tend to do often knowingly, and we always find an excuse for these non-civic sense activities, few such excuses are “it is cool”, “time crunch”, “over crowded”.

With a proper time management, over crowded buses/trains can be avoided, we all know that in peak hours the buses will be crowded, and transport authorities are not concerned about increasing the service, it’s because we are all accustomed to travel in congestion like herds, any which ways you are going to travel in there buses, so why should they increase the service which is a over head expense for which the returns are same as before, if at all you stop travelling in crowded buses showing a considerable deficit in their revenues they are not going to increase the service, and its not going to happen over night, it’s a question of self respect as well, check my earlier blog Fatalistic or Irresponsible, as a social animal, it becomes our responsibility to adhere such civic senses, if not for the welfare of the society, but to tell our next generation that we are civilized.

Food for Soul – Divisions

chaatur varnam maya sristam, guna karma vibhagaasha -- Gita

While discussing about the reservation based on caste system, with my friends (don’t sigh I’m not here for that discussion), as the conversation becoming hotter, it moved slightly away from the topic and we started arguing why caste system and how it all started. Ram one of my friend said it all quoted in Veda, that caste system has been invented/implemented by Veda, he quoted the above slogan from Bhagavad Gita.

There were to and fro statements on the same, which I thought to explore and see how close Ram is on this, and it also looks to me as an incomplete sloka. I first want to understand the meaning of this slogan and complete the same.

Chaatur Varnam maya sristam which means four divisions were been created
guna karma vibhagaasha based on Qualities (Guna) and Work (Karma)

This way Lord Krishna himself has said through the Bhagavad gita, that he is held responsible for divisions (Varnas) of people, based on Work and behavior, anyways why this division is required, if there is no such division then this caste system would not have been existed. Now the question is are divisions necessary? Are they for any good? How this world would have been if there is no such divisions.

I started exploring further on this, as this is getting interesting, divisions are in every part of our life, yes, that is true, how? Take for an example our body, head is not same as toe, torso is not same as your thighs, mouth is not same as ears. I know you want to tell me that these are organs and not divisions, and it is parts of the body. Exactly I don’t deny that, what is the body then? How it looks like? If you look deep into it, there is nothing that you can show as body; it is a collective resemblance of these organs (divisions). Once you start removing these organs one by one from the body, you will see nothing there, because body does not exist, if at all it exists, it exists only in the collection of these organs (divisions).

If at all, the body has got no divisions, how it would look like, can you imagine? To the best of my imagination power, it will be like a sphere, because any geometric shape (except circle) will have divisions. There won’t be any difference between the ear, nose, eyes, mouth and all, including the excretional organs, so disgusting. This implies that divisions are implicit and it applies to almost everything that we know, from body, cars, bikes, aircrafts, to land (sea, mountains, plateaus and all) to globe, galaxy, Milky Way and all, divisions are inevitable.

Fine, let divisions be inevitable, why it is imposed by Veda (as per Lord Krishna in Gita), let me ask you one quick question before we proceed on this, if you are asked to become an organ of the body, which organ you would choose to become? Probably, Eyes to see beauty, Ears to hear, Mouth to taste, Nose to smell, Hands to touch, Legs to walk, you probably will choose any of these organs, but I’m sure that no one will ever choose to become Anus to excrete, its only job, it has got no pleasures like other organs, let me tell you a short story here,

Once body organs fought with each other, claiming they are the greatest of all. Eyes said I’m the greatest of all organs, since I show the path to all of you, Brain said, I’m the greatest of all, since I analyze what is seen/shown and decide the best, Heart laughed out loud and said if I haven’t pumping the blood to you (Brain) then you will suffocate to death, so I’m the greatest, and so all the other organs started telling there best feature to claim the greatest of all award, during which Anus is about to say something, all organs interrupted the Anus, and said, you stink, you are no good, you are not the greatest but worst of all, with this insult Anus kept his mouth shut, for next couple days, there is no way the in toxins get out of the body, the blood was not clean, the hemoglobin count came down drastically in the blood, because of which the nourishment that supposed to be supplied to brain was disturbed, brain was going crazy because of which it was not able to send signals to eyes, ears, nose and all, which are failing to sense, Spleen was bulging because of intoxicated blood and so the heart and all other organs. Now all organs understood the importance of Anus, and its job, they all spoke Anus and said you are the greatest of all of us and apologized for their behavior other day. For which Anus replied, I’m sorry for hurting you all, I just want to let you know all, that we all are greatest in our jobs, we don’t have to compete with each other to prove who is greatest of all.

The above story tells that divisions are not bad, but discrimination is. This is what exactly told by Lord Krishna in Gita, let me complete the slogan now,

chaatur varnam maya sristam, guna karma vibhagaasha
tatsye karthaaram mavibthi
agarthaaram aavyayam
-- Gita

We discussed the first line already, lets explore the second and third

tatsye karthaaram mavibthi – means, yes I’m the one who created this division.

Lord Krishna is not denying that he created the divisions, he’s not hiding his face, with great boldness and authority he says “Look Arjuna, I created these four varna’s based on their Karma”

agarthaaram aavyayam – means I’m not responsible for these divisions.

This is the contradiction of the previous sentence, now Lord Krishna says, I’m not responsible for these divisions, we all know that Lord Krishna is mischief and playful, we might tend to think that he is playing with the words again, but it can’t be, he is preaching Gita to Arjuna he cant be playful, he cant be mischief now, then what actually he is trying to preach Arjuna. Lord Krishna actually meant was “I’m not responsible for the Discrimination

So the complete meaning of this slogan is

“I created these four varna’s based on their karma and guna, but I’m not responsible for the discrimination's between them”

If not Lord Krishna, then who is responsible for these discriminations, its none other than we, don’t try to escape, remember when I asked you which body part you would like to become none of us, has said would like to become Anus, we discriminated our own body organs, we also discriminating our own fellow brothers, based on these divisions created by God.

As per Veda, Brahmana’s are born from Head, Shatria’s from Shoulder, Vaishiya’s from Thighs and Sudra’s from the Lotus feet of MahaVishnu.

So they all born from one body, they should not be discriminated, and they can be discriminated only if we discriminate body organs, which we are actually, rite? And remember prostration is done only to the Lotus feet of Maha Vishnu, not to Head, Shoulders or Thighs, no Alwars/Nyanmmars wished to prostrate Head, Shoulder or Thighs but the Lotus feet.

It was always told like this “Kamala Paadha sharana gadhi”, as per my knowledge no Jeer/follower or preacher prostrated “sharana gadhi” to head, shoulder or thighs, but feet which gets utmost importance. So if at all Vedas are responsible for discrimination, then it should be the other way round, Sudra’s should be given more importance then Brahmana, it reality it was not no, so it clearly implies that these verses (Veda/Gita) was misinterpreted by selfish morons to cause this discrimination for their self benefit, but blaming Vedas for the same.
